INTRODUCTION

The Hanuman Chalisais a spiritual poem written in praise of Lord Hanuman by the great saint Sri Tulasidas during the 16th century AD. It is praised as a great text similar to Saint Tulasidas Ramcharitmanas, which contains the life history of Lord Rama. Hanuman Chalisa songs are available in YouTube, and Hanuman devotees can watch it, in order to get the blessings of Hanumanji.

Hanuman is one of the leading characters in the Ramayan, and he is considered as an avatar of Lord Shiva.  He contains very good aspects such as braveness, valor, courage, wisdom, celibacy, boldness and his great bhakti on Lord Rama. Hanuman is called by several other names, and his various names are mentioned in the Hanuman Chalisa. Next to Bhagavat Gita, Bhagavatham and Ramayan, it is considered as an auspicious text.

Tulsidas in his introduction to Hanuman Chalisa mentions that whoever recites this bhakti text would become staunch devotees of Lord Rama and Hanuman, and they would be well protected by them throughout their life time.

By singing the Hanuman Chalisa, we can know about the glory of Lord Hanuman, and the contribution he made to Lord Rama during the Treta Yuga. Lord Hanuman is praised for his selflessness, humble attitude, politeness and kindness and for his great respect to Rama.

By singing Hanuman Chalisa, Lord Rama would be pleased, and by reciting the Rama Mantra, Lord Hanuman would be pleased. Both of them show their great love and affection on each other.

In Hanuman Chalisa, the wonders performed by Lord Hanuman and his greatness are mentioned. It describes his meeting with Lord Rama, his travel to Lanka in search of Mata Sita, meeting Sita Mata in the Ashokavanam at Srilanka, burning Srilanka and fighting with the demons, and again meeting Lord Rama at Kishkinta and telling about his meeting with Sita, and about his bondage with Lord Rama.
